Description from the publisher:

Everything about him warned me to stay away.

I’d seen bad boys before, but he had it all and more. The rippling muscles covered in tatts, the piercing eyes hiding dark secrets, the silky voice that could make a girl come with just a whisper . . .

He was exactly the type of guy that would get me in trouble, but when he jumped off the stage, inked skin glistening with sweat and breathed his seductive words into my ear, I couldn’t resist the temptation.

It was supposed to be the best one-night stand of my life, but fate didn’t let it play out that way. Things happened. I got upset. I got hasty. And worst of all, I got reckless.

After that disaster, I thought it was the last I’d see of him. But what I didn’t know was that I’d started something.

Something that could shatter the very thing I had worked so hard to protect.

I should have known back then that the most seductive things in life are also the most dangerous.

MY REVIEW

5 CROWN

This is the first book in the series and they do need to be read in order. The next book will be available in October, 2014.

Riley meets seductive, rock-God, front-man Jax. It is supposed to be a one-night stand of epic proportions. It doesn’t work out that way. She walks away from the bad boy thinking that was the last she would see of him. Fate brings them back together. She was reckless when she walked away the first time; which way lies the greater danger now?

This was the first book I have read from Ms. West. I loved it! She has an in-depth understanding of the psychology behind human actions and she brings it out with artistic sweeps of her literary paint brush. “I’d never seen a man so savagely gorgeous.” I read that and I had to sit back and think about it. It doesn’t matter if you prefer blonde hair or black, blue eyes, green, or blue… imagine what “savagely gorgeous” means to you. I immediately thought of Tarzan, chiseled muscles, lean, and primal. Isn’t all of that a yummy thought?

Beyond being beautifully written, the story itself was amazing, unique, and full of surprises. There was no “formula” in this book as happens in a good many romances. I loved how I was constantly kept on my toes and could NOT guess what was going to happen next.

This book does end in a cliffhanger – and one hell of a one, at that! I promise you do want to read the book, but if you hate cliffies, wait until October when you can jump that cliff immediately. Meanwhile, I’ll be counting down the days.

Ms. West, thank you for writing such a wonderful escape from reality. I hope to read more from your backlist soon, as well as getting to read RECKLESS2 when it releases.

REVIEW – HIGH CLASS HARLOT by Delia Steele

Title:  HIGH CLASS HARLOT
Series: Switching Tracks #2
Author:  Delia Steele
Publish Date:  07.01.14
Publisher:  Delia Steele

Recommended for:  18+ due to sexual content and foul language
Received from:  Delia Steele (in exchange for an honest review)

Goodreads link: HIGH CLASS HARLOT

Description from the publisher:

The language in this book is rough, but I feel it’s a must due to the setting of the book. If you liked Trailer Park Princess and liked Mando then you already know she is over the top, but she is a lot to take in when it’s nonstop. If you don’t like foul, crude, mouthy females don’t read this book. Trailer Park Princess finished where you could be content simply because Mando’s story isn’t for everyone. I am well aware of that.

Release Date July 1, 2014

People spend their whole lives being condescending cockstars. Assuming they know something when they don’t. Assuming they know who someone is when they have no idea. Assuming that, because they can see something, they understand it. Let me tell you right now, STOP ASSUMING! Until you walk a day in someone’s gold-studded hooker heels, you do not know them or their story. Do not assume your struggle is worse simply because it’s yours. Do not assume they are ok just because they look to be so. And do not assume you are a better person simply because someone chooses to sin differently than you.

My family has money. We buy what we want without fear of being destitute, and we will never worry about having food or any other necessities. My struggle in life is not with the money, but where it comes from. My father’s secret is carrying a hefty price tag that I can no longer afford. My soul is priceless, and he is stripping it away from me. My world isn’t all rainbows, sparkle, and diamonds falling from my exit hole like Rory’s story portrayed. For every high, there is a low, and the higher you go, the further you have to fall.

I have the best things in life, except for life itself. Everyone I love has moved away; my passion to exist has deflated; my job is a joke; but more than anything, I hate who I am allowing myself to become. Is there anyone strong enough to hold my hand on this road to self-preservation, or am I to travel it alone?

If you start my story, please find it in yourself to finish it before you judge me. Don’t assume you can know where I am headed without seeing where I have already been. I am Amandolette Riaz, and I am a glitzed-up glitch in today’s delicate world.

MY REVIEW

5 CROWN

This is the second book in the Switching Tracks series. They do need to be read in order.

If you cannot tolerate inventive and invective language, do not open this book. TPP can stand alone and you do not need to sully your mind. If, on the other hand, colorful, dark, and real do not bother you, then I highly recommend this follow-up companion story.

Do you remember Mando from TRAILER PARK PRINCESS? She is Rory’s BFE (best friend eva). She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but for some reason her grandmother is living in the trailer park while her family enjoys the high life? At the time that I reviewed TPP, I said I would like to read Mando’s story and here it is!

Mando’s family has secrets…the secret of how they have earned the money to live their good life and the secret of what really goes on in the mansion behind the triple gates. The secrets have been tearing Mando apart for years, eating away at her soul until she is left with nothing and nobody. She has lost sight of her own worth. This is a story of prejudices, self-discovery, redemption, and forgiveness. This is Mando’s story, not only of her life, but also her hell and her heaven.

Throughout the book, Ms. Steele has added hashtags related to the events currently existing in the story. I hate hashtags and found them annoying, but even I have to admit some of them were downright funny. Then there is a part of the book when the hashtags are not merely add-ons to the chapter for a bit of whimsy, but actually serve a purpose in that chapter of Mando’s life. What I had at first found annoying was then seen as a writer’s tool to prepare you for this part of the book. Not only does Mando grow as a human being, I grew as a reader. I appreciate that.

Speaking of hashtags,… do you remember a few months ago I said I met the boys from the band Far Young.  At that time, I told you that they played a couple of songs that I couldn’t reveal titles.  This one is going to be huge:

Thank you, Ms. Steele, for another, very well-written story. I could not think of a better way to spend a Saturday night alone that could compete with curling up with one of your books.

Description from the publisher:

In this BDSM Erotic romance, BBW Beth Kingston finds herself with a serious problem. Her self-image issues have taken a toll on her sex life. After her boyfriend of two year, walks out during a bad sexual encounter Beth comes to terms with the fact that it’s time to make some serious changes. The last thing she wants is to lose Adam, but her decision to change runs deeper than just a bid to save her relationship.

With the hopes of expanding her sexual horizons, Beth books a weekend at a sexual therapy retreat. Once there, she quickly learns that the weekend will be much more than she bargained for. Beth fights with second thoughts, when she must either succumb to the orders of her ‘Master’ or leave. She doesn’t want to walk away, knowing nothing has changed, but playing the submissive in a weekend of BDSM training isn’t exactly what she had in mind.

Previously released as a Michelle Cary title called Beyond Boundaries, this story contains graphic sex and subject matter that some readers may find objectionable including but not limited to bondage, submission, oral and anal sex

MY REVIEW

5 CROWN

Originally released as BEYOND BOUNDARIES under the pseudonym Michelle Cary, this is a stand-alone erotic romance novel

Beth has been belittled her entire life, mostly from her parents, about her size. This has inhibited her when it comes to sex. When her boyfriend of two years walks out after a fight about where and when, she makes a decision to attend a sexual therapy retreat. Adam agrees to do anything that will make her happy because he loves her so much. Both, thinking they will be attending couples counseling are surprised to find that the retreat has them paired off and Adam must act the part of her Master. Beth must submit or they will be asked to leave the retreat.

This book contains a lot of BDSM role-playing and is very sensitively presented. To say it is erotic I hated FSOG because, in those books, kinksters are portrayed as deviants in need of psychological counseling and constant supervision. Ms. Cary did not share that stand. Instead, she lets it be known that each couple in the lifestyle ultimately makes their own rules for what works for them. Communication is the key and this is demonstrated repeatedly, especially when Adam breaks the character prescribed by the rules of the retreat to make sure that HIS submissive is okay in their play space.

I loved both Beth and Adam. Adam is the perfect BBF. He is sweet, caring, loving, strong, and alpha through and through. He makes a wonderful Dom with the little crash course he received the day before Beth arrived at the retreat. I get Beth. She’s scared to the core that nobody could love her exactly as she is so she tries to hide her true self. First, at home, she hides behind rules of sex belonging only in the bed and with the lights off. At the retreat, as her physical barriers are torn down, her mind makes the trips necessary to come to terms and tear down the mental walls as well.

I look forward to more great reading from the “pen” of Ms. Stapleton.

Description from the publisher:

To the readers,

In the story you’re about to read, The Breaking of Sabrina, I put myself in the mind of a sadist. There are sadists alive and well. You could be standing next to one in the checkout line, your waiter, or someone you work with. You never know. Believe me, things like I have mentioned do really happen. While most being consensual, some are not. Even if you have thought of it or you have a need to be broken, think twice. The lifestyle is not a game. The lifestyle is not a fantasy. The world of BDSM is powerful and it is real and if you fall into the wrong hands you can get hurt.

While this story is not true, it is completely fictitious; the experiences you’ll read about do go on. It happens daily, maybe not the way I wrote it, but the breaking of a slave is very common. This story could be real, and it could be you. Be careful and be safe.

Much Love,
Vile

MY REVIEW

4 CROWN

This is Vile’s first released short story. He has teamed up with author, Lea Barrymire, whose previous works can be found here.

Sabrina is a bitch and her husband, Mark, though a good guy is a wimp. He has seen his friend Vile and his slave. Mark thinks he wants that kind of relationship, but doesn’t know how to bring his wife to that submission. He engages Vile to take Sabrina and break her so that she will be compliant. Be careful what you wish for…

This is very good, especially for a first work offered. I applaud Mr. Vile for showing how quickly the thought of what BDSM is can be perverted to something abusive. Mark wants a slave, but he doesn’t know how to be a Master, so he turns to his friend. Unfortunately, Vile doesn’t train Mark first. Instead, he goes along with Mark’s plan to have Sabrina broken first. All three main characters are deeply flawed, though the men at least both do want something better for Sabrina’s life.

I hope that Mr. Vile will continue creating stories for us. Perhaps he will even give us a what happens next for Vile, Sabrina, and Vile’s current slave who is not a part of this book though mentioned in passing.

MY REVIEW

5 CROWN

Megan is an introvert and assistant librarian at the Winchester Public Library. It has been ten years since high school graduation and her best friend, Lisa, is cajoling her to attend. Megan doesn’t want to run into her high school sweetheart, a boy she never got over and is now the lead singer for the popular heavy-metal band MADversary. When she gives in, her greatest fear is realized, sparks fly, and Meg is afraid of being left behind once again.

I loved this story. It was hot… as in melt-your-panties hot…with a lot of sweet. Tyler is a rock God with a heart of gold. His sensitive side makes him swoon-worthy, but he also knows how to rock the sheets.

I completely “get” Megan. I, too, am very introverted and hate loud and crowds although I will brave them for something I really want (like the right kind of music). We prefer the company of books over most people. We share the feelings of “what if” of a high school boyfriend. We share a fear of being alone and the fear of choosing so poorly that we would rather be alone. We are romantics with a side of skeptic. We are the hopeless, hopeful romantics who pray that we are wrong and not all men are the same.

This story is all about the second chance at a love that had never died. What happens when you get that opportunity to reunite with the man who has held your heart? He is the man against whom all other men have been compared for ten years. Do you take a chance, even when you think it’s just a weekend lust down memory lane?

Jade Jamison is observant. She knows people and it shows in her writing. This story had me sucked in from page one and I didn’t want to let go until I was done.

MY REVIEW

5 CROWN

This is the first story in the new Colliding Worlds series from Tabitha Conall. It is planned that each will stand on their own with characters from each book appearing and progressing in the subsequent stories.

In this story, we meet Mattie Sloan who has traveled to Scotland with her Alpha, Darius Bishop. While visiting, she finds her mate, Colin MacPherson. Colin, a womanizer, does not plan to settle down, until he scents his mate. In a moment their lives have changed, but neither wants to move from the country they love. Do they choose love or country?

Mattie is unapologetically strong, intelligent, and driven. How can you not love a female character like that?

Ms. Conall has created a truly unique concept for the reality of all of the mystical magical things that we love. When humans dream of werewolves, an alternate Earth is born and inhabited by werewolves (or fairies, or vampires, or… whatever we have dreamed of existing). Occasionally these alternate worlds will collide with Earth-prime, where the humans live. When that happens, the veil between the worlds lifts and the species are introduced. Isn’t that a wonderful explanation!! Ms. Conall, obviously, has a terrific imagination and even better she has the ability to share that imagination in well-written prose.

My only complaint is that the story ended so soon. I anxiously await the next installment in this series.

Description from the publisher:

Cowboys are a different breed…
They work hard, play hard and love harder.
It’s all about the ride, until the right woman
makes them fall.
Twyla Taylor is one frustrated cowgirl. She’s not winning at barrel racing or in love. She’s spent ten years nursing a crush on her brother’s best friend, Ryan Easter, who thinks of her as no more than his little sister. When Twyla catches Ryan with yet another no-good buckle bunny, and calls him out, he tells her to get a life, and that is exactly what she decides to do. One that does not include a buckle-bunny-chasing cowboy with a bad attitude, or an overbearing older brother.

Ryan Easter is one frustrated cowboy. He’s winning every night at bronc riding, and has a different woman in every city. Mostly so he can keep his best friend’s fiery little sister, and his desire for her, at bay. Since she grew those proud little breasts of hers, and mile-long legs, Ryan has had to fight his attraction to her. If her brother knew what he was thinking, he would kill Ryan, if her daddy didn’t first. Ryan valued the surrogate family the Taylor’s provided him with too much to ever go there with their youngest member.

His diversion techniques work like a charm, until one night he pushes her too far, and Twyla takes off. Ryan knows he has to find her quickly and apologize, or face his best friend’s wrath. He finds Twyla in Dallas and decides she’s definitely gone cowgirl crazy. He barely recognizes her, because his barrel-racing tomboy is wearing makeup that looks like it was put on with a putty knife and she’s working at a bar which borders on a cowgirl strip club. When she isn’t serving shots off of her stomach, she’s shaking her round ass for any man with a dollar to shove into the waistband of her barely-there shorts.

Twyla refuses to leave with him, and Ryan knows he better make his final arrangements, or come up with another way to convince her and fast.

MY REVIEW

5 CROWN

This is the second book in the Cowboy Way series. They each stand alone, but are, in my opinion, much more enjoyable when read in order.

In JUST SHOOT ME, Cord convinces his brother Dean to allow him and two friends to raise some rough stock bulls to be used on the rodeo circuit. Those two friends are Ryan and Zack. Zack is Twyla’s overprotective brother and Ryan is a surrogate brother brought into the family after trouble in his own home when he was a teenager. In order to maintain the relationship with the family, even at 28, Ryan follows a strict hands-off policy when it comes to Twyla. Instead he lets her see the revolving door of buckle bunnies visiting his trailer in each city. Pushing her away until she finally leaves and then his heart knows he must follow her to protect her.

This book is funny, serious, heartbreaking, and then downright hilarious in parts. I loved that Ryan’s last name is Easter. All of those buckle bunnies want to be Easter’s bunny! (bwahahaha) Twyla doesn’t want to be a bunny, a rodeo-groupie. She knows she is a tomboy racing the barrels. She doesn’t do girly-girl, makeup, or fancy clothes. She wants Ryan on her own terms or not at all.

I had a rough day yesterday. This book was the perfect remedy and escape from my realities. Isn’t that what we all want in a book? It pulled me in from page one and wouldn’t let me go. I think I only slept about two or three hours last night, because Ryan, Twyla, and Zack were calling me back to Texas. The nervous tension, the suspense, the fights, the flirts, and the steam were all perfectly measured and served.

Ms. McGraw, I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to be included in your release day. Thank you for a wonderful story … and you left enough breadcrumbs, that I’m sure I know whose story is next <smiles>.
